Japan Visa Guide

Overview

Indian passport holders require a sticker visa to visit Japan — e-visa is NOT available for Indians. Applications must be submitted in person at a VFS Global Japan Visa Application Center in India (Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad). You cannot apply online. The visa is affixed as a sticker in your passport. Single entry (15/30/90 days) and multiple entry options available.

Required Documents

• 4Flight itinerary (confirmed tickets or reservation)
• 5Hotel bookings for entire stay

• 7Salary slips or income proof (last 3 months)
• 8Employment certificate or business registration
• 9Leave approval letter
• 10Travel itinerary (day-by-day plan)
• 11If invited: invitation letter from Japanese host

Application Process

   Download Application Form

   Download visa application form from the Japanese Embassy India website.

   Prepare Documents

   Arrange all required documents. Japan is strict about completeness — double check everything.

   Submit at Embassy or VFS

   Submit application in person at the Japanese Embassy (Delhi, Mumbai, Osaka consulates in India) or via travel agent.

4. 4

   Wait for Processing

   Processing takes 4–7 business days. No interview typically required.

5. 5

   Collect Passport

   Collect passport with visa stamp. Single entry valid for 3 months from issue date.
