Overview
Indians get visa-free entry to Thailand for up to 60 days under the Visa Exemption Scheme โ no visa needed for tourism. However, since 1 May 2025, the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) is MANDATORY for all travelers and must be submitted online before arrival (free of cost). For longer stays or non-tourism purposes, apply for the appropriate visa at the Thai Embassy or via thaievisa.go.th. Stays can be extended by 30 days at a local Thai Immigration office (fee: 1,900 THB).

Application Process

Check Entry Type
Indians get 60 days visa-free on arrival โ no visa needed for trips up to 60 days. For longer stays, apply for Tourist Visa (TR) via thaievisa.go.th.

Fill TDAC (Mandatory)
Fill the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) at tdac.immigration.go.th within 72 hours before your flight. This is compulsory for all travelers โ carry the confirmation QR code to the airport.

Apply Tourist Visa (if needed)
If staying beyond 60 days, apply online at thaievisa.go.th โ select Tourist Visa (TR), upload documents, and pay 1,000 THB fee.

Prepare Documents
Keep passport, return ticket, hotel booking, and bank statement ready. Immigration officers may ask to see proof of funds (20,000 THB per person / 40,000 THB per family).

Arrive in Thailand
At immigration, show your TDAC QR code, passport, and visa (if applicable). Keep hotel booking and return ticket handy.
Tips for Approval
- โTDAC is MANDATORY โ submit online at tdac.immigration.go.th before arrival. Failure may cause immigration delays or denied entry.
- โTDAC validity: 90 days. Each traveler (including children) must file a separate TDAC.
- โIndians get 60 days visa-free โ most trips do not need a visa at all.
- โProof of funds may be checked at immigration: 20,000 THB per person (~โน48,000) / 40,000 THB per family.
- โAlways carry a confirmed return ticket when entering Thailand.
- โExtend stay by 30 more days at any Thai Immigration office (fee: 1,900 THB) โ max combined stay 90 days.
- โWorking is illegal on visa-free entry โ apply for a Non-Immigrant B visa before travel if working.
- โTransit under 12 hours staying airside (no immigration clearance) โ no TDAC needed.
- โOverstay fine: โน1,260/day (capped โน50,240). Overstays >90 days โ deportation and blacklist.
- โCannot modify Name, Passport No., Nationality, DOB in TDAC after submission โ must reapply.
- โPopular entry airports: Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi & Don Mueang), Phuket, Chiang Mai.
Common Rejection Reasons
- โDid not submit TDAC before arrival (mandatory since May 1, 2025)
- โInsufficient funds proof at immigration
- โNo confirmed return flight ticket
- โIncomplete or inconsistent documents
- โPrevious overstay or visa violation in Thailand
- โPassport validity less than 6 months
- โPurpose of visit unclear or suspicious
