Overview

The UK Standard Visitor Visa allows Indian citizens to visit the UK for tourism, business meetings, visiting family, or short-term study (up to 6 months). Applications are submitted online.

Application Process

Apply Online
Fill the UK Standard Visitor Visa form at gov.uk/apply-uk-visa. Create a UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) account.

Pay Visa Fee
Pay £115 online. Priority service (£250 extra) gives decision in 5 working days.

Book Biometrics Appointment
Schedule an appointment at a VFS Global centre in India (Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, etc.).

Submit Documents
Visit the VFS centre with original documents and biometrics. Some documents may be submitted online.

Wait for Decision
Standard processing: 3–5 weeks. Priority: 5 working days. Super Priority: next working day (£800 extra).

Tips for Approval

✓UK visa has one of the stricter scrutiny levels — documentation must be thorough
✓A cover letter clearly explaining your trip purpose is very helpful
✓10-year visa is common for strong profiles with good financial standing
✓Prior US or Schengen visa history helps but is not required

✓Show property ownership in India to prove strong ties
